Mono- and bis-substituted phosphite complexes [Ru3(CO)12−x Lx] (L = tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphite; x = 1, 2) were synthesized by simple substitution reactions, and were characterized by spectroscopic methods. The monosubstituted ruthenium complex disproportionates in acetone producing a mononuclear ruthenium complex as one of the decomposition products. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis established the molecular structure of this new compound.  相似文献

Lower Miocene siliciclastic sediments of the Vöckla Schichten and Atzbacher Sande, Austria, contain a shallow-water trace-fossil assemblage of the Cruziana ichnofacies includingSkolithos isp.,Planolites ? beverleyensis, Ophiomorpha annulata, O.nodosa, Rosselia socialis, Cylindrichnus concentricus, Scolicia isp., andBichordites monastiriensis. The ichnogenusRosselia and the ichnospeciesRosselia socialis are revised. Analysis ofScolicia isp. andB. monastiriensis provides new information about their morphology and ichnotaxonomy.  相似文献

Aspergillus fumigatus (Af) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) are leading fungal and bacterial pathogens, respectively, in many clinical situations. Relevant to this, their interface and co-existence has been studied. In some experiments in vitro, Pa products have been defined that are inhibitory to Af. In some clinical situations, both can be biofilm producers, and biofilm could alter their physiology and affect their interaction. That may be most relevant to airways in cystic fibrosis (CF), where both are often prominent residents.We have studied clinical Pa isolates from several sources for their effects on Af, including testing involving their biofilms. We show that the described inhibition of Af is related to the source and phenotype of the Pa isolate. Pa cells inhibited the growth and formation of Af biofilm from conidia, with CF isolates more inhibitory than non-CF isolates, and non-mucoid CF isolates most inhibitory. Inhibition did not require live Pa contact, as culture filtrates were also inhibitory, and again non-mucoid>mucoid CF>non-CF. Preformed Af biofilm was more resistant to Pa, and inhibition that occurred could be reproduced with filtrates. Inhibition of Af biofilm appears also dependent on bacterial growth conditions; filtrates from Pa grown as biofilm were more inhibitory than from Pa grown planktonically. The differences in Pa shown from these different sources are consistent with the extensive evolutionary Pa changes that have been described in association with chronic residence in CF airways, and may reflect adaptive changes to life in a polymicrobial environment.  相似文献

An engineered microbial biofilm barrier capable of reducing aquifer hydraulic conductivity while simultaneously biodegrading nitrate has been developed and tested at a field-relevant scale. The 22-month demonstration project was conducted at the MSE Technology Applications Inc. test facility in Butte, Montana, which consisted of a 130 ft wide, 180 ft long, 21 ft deep, polyvinylchloride (PVC)-lined test cell, with an initial hydraulic conductivity of 4.2 × 10-2 cm/s. A flow field was established across the test cell by injecting water upgradient while simultaneously pumping from an effluent well located approximately 82 ft down gradient. A 30 ft wide biofilm barrier was developed along the centerline of the test cell by injecting a starved bacterial inoculum of Pseudomonas fluorescens strain CPC211a, followed by injection of a growth nutrient mixture composed of molasses, nitrate, and other additives. A 99% reduction of average hydraulic conductivity across the barrier was accomplished after three months of weekly or bi-weekly injections of growth nutrient. Reduced hydraulic conductivity was maintained by additional nutrient injections at intervals ranging from three to ten months. After the barrier was in place, a sustained concentration of 100 mg/l nitrate nitrogen, along with a 100 mg/l concentration of conservative (chloride) tracer, was added to the test cell influent over a six-month period. At the test cell effluent the concentration of chloride increased to about 80 mg/l while the effluent nitrate concentration varied between 0.0 and 6.4 mg/l.  相似文献

Organic acids reduce aluminum toxicity in maize root membranes   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
Application of 10–50 μ M Al ions to a plasma membrane-enriched microsomal fraction, isolated from roots of maize ( Zea mays L.), resulted in decreased Mg2-ATPase activity. This was probably caused by changes in membrane structure as detected by the use of spin probes. Both enzymatic activity and membrane structure could in part be protected from Al injury when organic acids, similar to those found in maize root tissue, were administered prior to the metal. When stressed by application of Al ions, the Al-tolerant maize hybrid, W64, maintained higher concentrations of organic acids, especially malic and trans -aconitic, than the Al-sensitive maize hybrid, A632. We hypothesize that citric and malic acid, because of their high stability constants with Al and/or the acid's concentration reduce Al toxicity in maize root tissue, especially in the Al-tolerant line.  相似文献

This study demonstrates the use of bootstrap methods to estimate the total population of urban and periurban areas using satellite imagery and limited survey data. We conducted complete household surveys in 20 neighborhoods in the city of Bo, Sierra Leone, which collectively were home to 25,954 persons living in 1,979 residential structures. For five of those twenty sections, we quantized the rooftop areas of structures extracted from satellite images. We used bootstrap statistical methods to estimate the total population of the pooled sections, including the associated uncertainty intervals, as a function of sample size. Evaluations based either on rooftop area per person or on the mean number of occupants per residence both converged on the true population size. We demonstrate with this simulation that demographic surveys of a relatively small proportion of residences can provide a foundation for accurately estimating the total population in conjunction with aerial photographs.  相似文献
